Plow Damage

Mailboxes:

Is your mailbox designed to stand up to the rigors of the winter plowing season? Please inspect your mailbox before every plow season.

Mailboxes are occasionally damaged during snow removal operations. Please refer to the Public Works Mailbox Damage Policy for additional information.

Following United States Postal Service guidelines will minimize the risk for mailbox damage. These guidelines are listed in the policy referenced above and linked below to the United States Postal Service website.  In addition to the United States Postal Service guidelines the approach to a mailbox should be kept clear 10 feet in each direction.  Mailboxes should be kept in a good state of repair to resist wind and rolling snow from the snow plows.

Lawn Damage

Plow drivers can unintentionally gouge your lawn, especially around corners, because of limited visibility.  Damages are repaired each spring with black dirt and seed.
