Drea is a female German Shepherd and is the Verona Police Department’s first canine. K9 Drea has been working for the Verona Police Department since August 4, 2017. K9 Drea was born on September 11, 2015 and is from the Netherlands. K9 Drea was purchased through Shallow Creek Kennels in June 2017. K9 Drea and her handler, Sergeant Matthew Kile, trained for six weeks together at Shallow Creek Kennels before returning to Verona. K9 Drea is trained and certified in narcotics detection, tracking, evidence recovery, area and building searches, and apprehension. K9 Drea certifies annually with the North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA).

If you would like to help support our K9 Program, we are selling "Mini Drea" stuffed animals! You can purchase your own K9 Drea by visiting the Verona Police Department Lobby, Monday - Friday between 8am-8pm. Only cash and checks are accepted at this time. All proceeds will go directly to the Verona PD K9 Program to assist with the purchase of equipment, training, and other needed K9 supplies.
