1. What is the non-emergency phone number for police?

608-845-7623. This line is monitored Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

2. When is the lobby open?

Our lobby and front windows are open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our phone lines are also monitored during those times. If you have a non-emergency issue outside of those hours, you may call the Dane County non-emergency number at 608-255-2345. For all emergencies, dial 911.

3. How do I request a police record or crash report?

Click here to submit the form for a police report online. You may also call us at 608-845-7623. Please note, there is a charge of $.25 per page. This applies even if the report is requested to be e-mailed.

If you only need a crash report for insurance purposes, you can go to crashdocs.org to request the report. You will need the Verona Police Department case number, the last name of an involved person, and the date of the crash. There is a flat fee of $2.00 for this report.

4. How do I pay my citation?

In person: You can pay in person at the police department lobby, Monday-Friday 8am-8pm. Please note: we only accept cash, check, or money orders at the window.

By mail: You may also send in a payment by mail to: Verona Police Department, 111 Lincoln Street, Verona, WI 53593. Checks can be made out to City of Verona.

Online: You may also pay online at www.govpaynow.com with a credit card. The location code for this method of payment is 7870. A service fee will be charged for the credit card transaction.

5. When does alternate side parking begin/end? How does it work?

Alternate side parking begins November 20 and ends April 1, and is effective between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. If you park your vehicle on the street during this time, it must be parked on the even/odd side of the street, corresponding with the date it is during this time. In other words, if you will be parking your vehicle during the evening hours, park on the side of the street that will correspond with the date it will be after midnight. 

Example: If it is 8:00 p.m. on December 1 and you plan to leave your car on the street overnight, you must park your vehicle on the EVEN side of the street. This is because the ordinance is in effect beginning 1:00 a.m., which would be December 2.

6. Can I have the police watch my house/property while I'm away?

Yes! If you live within the City of Verona, you can submit a Vacation Watch request here or call us at 608-845-7623. If you decide to return early, just make sure you give us a call and let us know.

7. Do you offer fingerprinting?

Yes! We are currently offering fingerprinting services. If you are a City of Verona resident or need the fingerprinting done for a business located within the City limits, there is no charge for this service. Otherwise, we charge $20.00, which can be paid by cash or check on the day of your appointment. Please make sure to bring your photo ID with you when you come.

8. Can I host a block party and shut down part of my street?

Yes. You will need to come to the Verona Police Department to fill out a petition for street use permit, or you can access the form here. The application fee is $25.00, plus any additional fees incurred. You will also need to obtain signatures from at least 75% of the residents/businesses that would be affected by the use of the street. 

9. Do you offer car seat checks?

Yes!  Give us a call at 608-845-7623, and we will connect you with an officer who is certified in child safety seat inspections.  Make sure you bring your owner’s manuals for your vehicle and your child safety seat to your appointment, which will last approximately 30 minutes.

10. How do I get a bicycle license or state trail pass?

Visit us at the Verona Police Department to obtain your bicycle license and register your bike in our system. The cost of the license is $3.00. Getting a license is not required, but it will help us to identify your bike in the event it is stolen or lost.

11. Do you take back old prescription drugs or medications?

No. The Verona Police Department does not have a permanent medication drop-off bin. We do host drug take-backs twice a year, which are posted on the City of Verona website. If you have drugs you would like to dispose of, you may do so at Hometown Pharmacy on South Main Street in the City of Verona, or at the Fitchburg or Middleton Police Departments.
